A 65-year-old Dutch woman, Brigitte van Gennip, has been missing on the Greek island of Samos since Thursday. She was last seen near Pythagorion and the Tunnel of Eupalinos, a historic site on the island.
Her friend became increasingly worried as the day went on and eventually raised the alarm when she could no longer reach her. Although Van Gennip's phone was found, there has been no sign of her.
Van Gennip's daughter has called for public attention to the case, stating, "The clock is ticking," in a post on X.
A Dutch search team, consisting of two drone pilots, two search dog handlers, and a coordinator from Stichting MTL and the National Drone Team, is now on the way to Samos to assist in the search.
Family and friends of the woman launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover the team's travel expenses, which has so far raised over 16,000 euros
